WORDLESS WEDNESDAY: “The waiting is the hardest part…”

by Katie Gomez on May 4, 2011

in Wordless Wednesday

OK, so this is the first time that Wordless Wednesday is not so….uhh…wordless. It’s time for another Gonzo Guest Post contest and it starts here. The prize? Glad you asked. The winner will get a bottle of wine (chosen by me) delivered to them for free by Wine Chateau. I’ll get a bottle of the same wine and we’ll both review the wine. Your chance, folks, to show off your skills. So exactly how sharp is that wit of yours, and how deep is the music memory bank?! Let’s find out. I chose a Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers lyric as a title to this Wordless Wednesday post because, honestly, the hardest part of bread baking is waiting once you pull that beautiful, warm, incredible-smelling loaf out of the oven…but have you got a better lyric? Drop a comment with a song lyric that YOU would have used as the title to this image and the winner gets to go gonzo. Deal?

UPDATE: CONTEST ENDED AS OF 8AM THIS MORNING, FRIDAY, MAY 6. BE BACK SOON WITH A WINNER!!!

Bob and Tom – toast song

I was looking for Paul Youngs toast song (remember that from my youngster days) but found this one instead and liked that lyric section

Patty cake, patty cake, Baker’s man?
(Sorry, my 9 MO like the rolling and patting)
How about:
“The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind…”

Gotta go with Floyd…

Breathe, breathe in the air
Don’t be afraid to care
Leave, but don’t leave me

Nothing better than a kitchen filled with the smell of fresh baked bread! And with that I’m off to the bakery.

I could feel hot flames of fire roaring at my back
As she disappeared, but soon she returned
In her hand was a bottle of wine, in the other, a glass

You got to make it by yourself
You know you got to make it by yourself
I’ll be your friend and I’ll lend a helping hand
But you got to try and help yourself before I can

From the song “You Got to Make it by Yourself” by Bread

And their more famous Make It With You…

Hey have you ever tried,
Really reaching out for the other side?
I maybe climbing on rainbows
But, baby here goes.
Dreams there for those who sleep,
Life is for us to keep,
And if you’re wond’ring
What this song is leading to
I want to make it with you
I really think that we can make it girl.
No, you don’t know me well,
‘N’ ev’ry little thing only time will tell,
But you believe the things that I do.
And we’ll see it through.
Life can be short or long,
Love can be right or wrong,
And if I chose the one
I’d like to help me through,
I’d like to make it with you
I really think that we can make it girl.
Baby you know that
Dreams they’re for those who sleep,
Life is for us to keep
And if I chose the one
I’d like to help me through,
I’d like to make it with you
I really think that we can make it girl.

I’m on a roll now…

Local Rockford band Cheap Trick (with on minor apology as I used one synonym in there):

I want you to want me.
I need you to knead me.
I’d love you to love me.
I’m beggin’ you to beg me.

From the world of Gospel Music:

“I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE”

I am the Bread of Life
All who eat this Bread will never die
I am God’s love revealed
I am broken that you might be healed

I don’t mind stealing bread
From the mouths of decadence
But I can’t feed on the powerless
When my cup’s already overfilled

As a bread baker (and sourdough at that) I sometimes wait up to 2 days to cut into a loaf of fresh baked. That said, all I can say, musically is :

Anticipation, anticipation
Is makin’ me late
Is keepin’ me waitin’

(with thanks to Carly Simon)

But it’s all right ’cause it’s midnight
And I got two more bottles of wine

It’s not the barley or the wheat
It’s not the oven or the heat
That makes this bread so good to eat
It’s the needing and the sharing that makes the meal complete

I can’t believe of all the “Bread” lyrics…Nobody has used “Everything I own”

Cause that loaf in the oven looks so good that:

I will give everything I own,
I’ll give my life, my heart, my home
I will give everything I own
Just to have you back again.

Ok, here is my latest submission:

Do right, use your head, everybody must be fed
Get together, break some bread, yes together, that’s what I said
Do what you like

From, “Do what you like” by Blind Faith….with the song writing credit going to ….

wait for it…
Wait for it…

that’s right, “Ginger Baker”
